Meiji Period Japanese Porcelain Kyoto Satsuma Moriage / 明治時代、日本の磁器京都さつま

I found another Meiji period Japanese porcelain Kyoto Satsuma moriage marked さつま.   This piece nearly matches another I have in my collection, posted here.  Circa 1868 - 1890.

Kyoto Satsuma is the common name for Satsuma style porcelain which were predominately made in Awata, Kyoto, Yokohama and Tokyo during the Meiji period.  Moriage is the style of decoration using raised enamel.

    1. There's many ways for you to sell it online. I'm curious and would love to see what you have and maybe I can buy it :)

    2. Hi, Ms. Kelley!

I have a plate which is very similar to these two pieces of yours—nearly identical, really. (I can't post pictures, here? Ugh.)

Ever since she did a school report on the origins of ceramics, my nine-year-old niece has been fascinated by all things "old Japanese." She's taken a shine to an old plate that I have on a shelf; now, I'm wondering whether or not I should gift it to her. Would you give a nine-year-old one of yours, to bang around? It can't be worth more than $20.00, can it? (Or, am I an idiot, and should wait until her high school graduation?) :)

      Thanks!

  2. That is a beautiful piece of art. I inherited a similar style 3 piece tea set that I have been trying to find information on since my grandfather's passing in 2008. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction? I didn't find a mark similar to the markings on mine on a website that listed it as Tashiro Zo (Made by Tashiro ) - 田代造 Taisho period
Yokohama, Japan. I have pictures if anyone would be interested in helping me out. I ask solely out of curiosity. The tea set truly has no money value to me, only love and respect towards it's previous owner.

    1. I apologise. That sentence should have said did* instead of didn't*
